MAKOS ANNOUNCE VENUE CHANGE FOR WESTGATE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY GAME

Hurricane Isaias Forces Lighthouse Christian College to Relocate Home Conference Opener to Pearl River, Louisiana

GULF BREEZE, FL – October 17, 2026 – Due to extensive damage caused by Hurricane Isaias to the Lighthouse Christian College campus and athletic facilities, the Makos have announced that their upcoming home football game against Westgate Christian University will be relocated to Pearl River High School in Pearl River, Louisiana, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM Central Time.

The decision comes following the devastating effects of Hurricane Isaias, which struck the Lighthouse campus on October 9, leaving significant damage to the football stadium, locker room facilities, bleachers, scoreboard, and surrounding athletic areas.

Lighthouse Christian College Director of Football Athletics Coach Bob Schneider contacted Westgate Christian University Athletic Director Marcus Mooney to discuss alternative locations for the contest. Following their discussions, both schools agreed that Pearl River High School would provide an excellent venue for the game, offering a convenient location while helping reduce travel time and hotel expenses for both programs.

The Lighthouse Christian College athletic department would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Pearl River High School for graciously opening its beautiful athletic facility to host this important conference matchup.

A special thank-you also goes to Jerrod Hutchinson and his family, who reached out to Lighthouse following the hurricane and played an instrumental role in coordinating the use of the Pearl River High School football facility. Their generosity and willingness to assist during this challenging time are greatly appreciated by the entire Lighthouse Christian College family.

MAKOS RETURN TO ACTION FOR CONFERENCE OPENER

The matchup against Westgate Christian University will mark the first New South Athletic Conference contest of the season for Lighthouse Christian College.

The Makos enter the game with a 3–3 overall record and will be returning to the field for the first time since their October 3 contest against Trinity College of Florida.

After dealing with the disruption caused by Hurricane Isaias, the Makos are eager to return to competition and begin conference play on a positive note.

The relocation to Louisiana also provides a special homecoming opportunity for several Lighthouse players. The Makos currently have 13 student-athletes from the state of Louisiana, including two former Pearl River High School players who will have the opportunity to return to their former home field wearing the Lighthouse Christian College uniform.

The Lighthouse coaching staff hopes the strong Louisiana connection will bring additional support from local families, friends, former teammates, and football fans throughout the Pearl River community.
