Lighthouse Christian College Makos Open 2026 NSAC Season Against Clayton State Lakers

Ellenwood, Ga. — The 2026 New South Athletic Conference (NSAC) season gets underway tonight with a highly anticipated rematch as the Lighthouse Christian College Makos take on the Clayton State University Lakers at Steele Stadium in Ellenwood, Georgia. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. EST.

The matchup features two of the NSAC’s top teams from a year ago. The Lakers, 2025 North Division and Conference champions, enter the season with plenty of returning talent. Leading the way is returning All-Conference and Offensive Player of the Year quarterback Sire Hardway, who will direct a fast-paced Clayton State offense. The Lakers will also rely on All-Conference cornerback Savion West to anchor a defense known for its physical, aggressive style.

The Makos, meanwhile, finished last season as South Division and Conference runners-up and are eager to begin the new campaign with a victory. Lighthouse Christian College returns two of the conference’s standout players: All-Conference running back Jamarkus Jefferson and Defensive Player of the Year Kemontre Current.

Jefferson will spearhead a physical, grinding Makos offense, while Current leads a defense expected to bring the same intensity and toughness that defined Lighthouse last season.

With both teams returning key contributors and plenty of unfinished business from last year, tonight’s contest promises to be one of the most intriguing opening games on the NSAC schedule.
